This particular collection showcases works from 40 years of music, iPhone landscape and personal works that are an amazing glimpse into a music veterans life and times. Also included are thought provoking sensitive works from the Artists personal collection, as well as breathtaking landscapes and nature shots.

What a busy time at One South Range Line Road! We have been in our new location just a over a week, and so far we have had one Gallery Walk with 0ver 35 artists, The Next Step Exhibit with 46 works, two professional photo shoots, one Pastel Painting class with Pam Newell and several Open Figure sessions!

Whew!

We just love our new space, and so happy that we took the time to design and renovate a space that can accommodate so many different events, functions and workshops in the Gallery! We are still fine-tuning a few things, but I must tell you that our custom designed movable walls have made all the difference in making the gallery so versatile for all of the future plans we have for Renaissance....stay tuned!

What a great workshop! During a question and answer session, Harry shows one of his platinum prints with gold leaf to the Students. Harry is an Award Winning Artist and a Master Photographer. In the Gallery you can see a few of the many different types of fine art he creates through his artful lens.

One on one approach to teaching is but one of the many reasons there is a waiting list for Sandler's workshops. Continuing contact is another. All of our students enjoy the support system we have in place for their inquiries.

Everyone at work on their own creations...what fun! We will be scheduling another workshop soon...more info soon!

What a great workshop! Award winning artist and instructor extraordinaire Harry Sandler came into the Gallery over Second Saturday weekend to teach his iPhone Antics workshop...and it was so much fun! Our kids.....students of all ages and backgrounds had a great time learning the technical language of creating art on their iPhones. We look forward to seeing their works as they find their own voice with this new art form. Still Life Boot Camp With Rita Spalding! Day Two...

The second day of the workshop brought back the eager shiny faces of artists knowing they were on to something very special, an epiphany or two...or three. Armed with their newly enlightened excitement, and a cuppa joe...our day began with a quick recap, then right on to another round of quick studies...yay! Let the quick studies begin....again!

Progression of quick studies is critiqued...so important for

learning the basics, or continuing study. Rita is an excellent

instructor...just sayin...

Breaking for lunch....Today we had Yummy homemade hot sandwiches made by our very talented instructor...turns out she is an master in the kitchen as well! Roast beef and jalapeno with a dollop o sour cream to cool the heat...this is making me hungry just typing it! Thank you Rita!

Tudor Rose Players come once again to the Gallery! This time in full Victorian regalia...singing carols and charming the crowd with their whimsical musings...I am beginning to feel that I must join them...what fun!

Oh, and by the way, two of Renaissance's Artist's works sold this evening at the Gallery walk! Rita Spalding's 'Chinese Persimmons' and Amy Falstrom's 'Desert Cloud" have found their new forever homes...congratulations Rita and Amy!

I love this IPhone image Harry Sandler took of the Gallery while he was in town for his Exhibition. Allusions of Reality/Majesty Unfolding is a fabulous show that will be up until New Years Eve. We Had a wonderful Opening Reception for both Harry and BarbaraVentura, and in the coming days I will tell you more about it...so nice to see you again...

A wonderful surprise

The summer has gone by so fast! I moved into the new gallery in May, and was finally prepared for my "Grand Opening" by the weekend of September 10th....you remember, you were all there with me.

Anyway...On the September Gallery Walk, just a week later, I was walking to the Door to greet My very talented friend Rita Spalding, as she was coming to do a painting demo.

As I opened the door I was greeted by this wonderful group The Tudor Rose Players, asking me "If this was the proper place to sing to thee mi'lady?" What followed was about 45 minutes of the most wonderful turn of the century serenade of the celtic kind, beautiful and sometimes humorous as well. It was very surreal for both Rita and myself, and all who were attending the walk that evening.

I just received the photos, so I wanted to share this special experience... I hear they are coming back for the December gallery walk, to sing once again under thou Renaissance sign...

Oh, and Rita did a beautiful painting demo as well...said Rita "this might be a tough act to follow" (those of you that know Rita are aware of her impeccable comedic timing)

This is what Autumn looks like at Renaissance Fine Art & Design. The Gallery won a cash award for our fall decoration, and the full prize was donated to the Arts & Design District Art Scholarship.

We are getting ready for the Allusions of Reality and Majesty Unfolding Exhibition, opening reception November 18th, 6 to 10 pm. You will not want to miss this fabulous show running to December 31st, 2010. Mark your calendar now....See you there!

I am Happy to announce that we will begin having various Classes and workshops in the Gallery! Open Figure starts Wednesday, August 18th from 5 to 8pm at Renaissance Fine Art & Design, for those wanting to sketch the figure, in a monitored setting. In September, drawing instruction will begin from 1 to 4 pm. Please contact Gallery for fees and supplies. Hope to see you there!

My Work on an Invitation...YAY!

My work was chosen for an invitation to a Black Tie Gala Cocktail Reception & Fundraiser to be held in the Indiana Design Center. This event proceeds the North American Premier of Zimbe! by Alexander L'Estrange, and presented by the Carmel Repertory Theater. Proceeds will benefit the carmelrepertorytheatre and the carmelartsanddesign district scholorship fund. You really must hear these beautiful songs...ZIMBE! means "Come sing the songs of Africa! L'Estreange is a composer, arranger, jazz double bass player and pianist.

As a bit of trivia..... L'Estranges' work has been in Glee the popular television show based on North Central High School, and the opening score of the first Austin Powers movie. youtube What fun!

Rock The District!

Tomorrow is the Rock the District Festival! Great music, food, Art... Pictured is the guitar that I Painted for the display for area artists. It was kind of last minute, so I decided upon paint instead of pique assiette, both require design time, but for this I duplicated one of my screen paintings...and added some checks :o) to learn more about Rock the District go to rockthedistrict

I have opened up the third floor for more large works, and I cannot wait for you to see them. I am also working on the gallery website, and soon you will be able to see the works from these exceptional artists. We are very excited to once again be having A painting demo or two by international artist Jerry Points. Love His work! Jerry's work is very versatile in that is has the rare ability to work within traditional and contemporary design settings. I have several of Jerry's works within the gallery, along with the works of 17 talented artists.

Mark and Jason from barnsignworks.com on scaffolding preparing the Elegant and Beautiful sign that they and Alora made for the new gallery. How exciting! The signs turned out even more beautiful than I imagined, and It was so easy to work with Alora Mark and Jason. In less than one week, the foot traffic had doubled, and I owe it all these beautiful new signs. Our new signs and letters have been installed...Just in time for the Gallery walk on the 17th! Twelve local and national artists are being represented with new works coming in every week. Quite a few patrons came in on Saturday many of them from out of state...Thank you Hamilton County Visitors Bureau...lots of positive comments and lots of interest in the various works in the Gallery.
